MS Office 2003 – Outlook

MS Office 2003 let’s you share your calendar, contact list and tasks. You can allow anyone or specific people access these items.  Here’s how:

  • Go to Navigation Pane on the left of your screen and click on the item you want to share.
  • Click on “share my ...” (calendar, tasks, and/or contacts).
  • Decide if you want to grant access to (a) anyone or (b) only specifically named individuals.
  • (a) In the Name box, select default. Under Permission, select the options you want.
  • (b) Click Add; in the Type Name or Select From list box, enter the name of the person you are granting permission; Click Add, Click Ok; In the Name box, highlight the name of the person you just added; Under permission, select the options you want.

You can use the same procedures to share your Journal or Notes folder too.

 Customer Service

Your attitude plays a vital role in effective customer service.  In our age of instant gratification, consumers understand they want what they want, when they want it, and how they want it.  For you, the business owner, this means you have to live up to some pretty high expectations.  If you don’t satisfy your client, meet or exceed their expectations, your competitor will! It is not difficult to meet the needs of your clients.  Make sure you understand, customers are satisfied when their expectations, not yours, are met!

Perhaps there are times when you cannot meet a customer’s expectation.  For example, a customer may expect immediate delivery on a product, but you’ve discovered it is out of stock for three weeks.  Your attitude and the skills you use to handle the situation can prevent the customer from becoming dissatisfied.

First, try to look at the positive aspect of any customer service situation.  In the previous example, tell your client that since the product is out of stock, you will forego shipping charges and have the product sent overnight as soon as it is in stock.

Secondly, show value to your clients:

  • Offer value added services
  • Use “can do” speak
  • Have a willingness to please attitude

Joke of the day!

A young man was walking his dog and noticed an old lady in a rocking chair on her front porch.  He thought how nice she looked to be so old, and when he approached her asked, "How did you keep yourself looking so young? What's your secret?"  The lady said, "Well, I smoke 4 packs of cigarettes a day, eat plenty of junk food, and never exercise."  "Wow!" The man exclaimed, "How old are you?"  The lady answered, "26."
